Help the Tor Project by translating software

29. Aug 2012

One way to easily contribute to the Tor Project is by translating their software into other languages.

I know that you come from different parts in the world, so I assume that you speak different languages, too. Since I’m writing in English I have to assume that you understand that as well.

Translating for Tor is quite easy. The translations of Tor are hosted on Transifex and can be updated from within the browser. Other software is not required.

https://www.transifex.com/projects/p/torproject/

All it requires is an free account at Transifex.com, you select your language and start translating. This works so quick because the Tor Project marked the project as “Free For All”

You can pick a resource and watch the strings or start translating directly. Like you can see in the screenshot. (Click to enlarge)

Thank you for your help.

  1. The above picture was taken with Greenshot – a free open source screenshot tool. (I’m new to it, but it worked for this purpose. Couldn’t use PicPick here.)

It was saved as png and took 31,7 kb, then I used PNGGauntlet to optimize it. Now it takes only 18.9 kb, without reduced quality. Saving 40% is great.
